FLEXOGRAPHY

Flexographic printing consists in direct transfer of graphics from a flexible form (polymer matrix) to various types of paper and foil substrates. Flexographic inks are transferred from the ink cup by means of a ductor to a ceramic anilox roller, from which the squeegee knife removes the excess. Through millions of laser-cut holes in the shaft, the so-called anilox, the paint is transferred to the matrix only in the amount needed to obtain the desired color effect.

Thanks to more and more advanced technologies, flexographic machines are able to combine several decoration and finishing techniques in line, thanks to which flexo prints are used in almost every field of the economy (food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, chemical, automotive industry and many others).

Depending on the needs and expectations of the client, as well as the stringent requirements for the migration of harmful substances to the product, various types of flexographic inks are used.

DSL offers expert inks from our trused partner Paragon Inks.

- water based inks
- UV inks
- LED inks

The UV Flexo AURA range has been developed for optimum performance on all types of flexo-printing units equipped with UV (MPM) drying. For use on all web fed UV flexo presses; developed for optimum performance on all types of flexoprinting units equipped with UV drying.

The LED Flexo AURA range is designed specifically for all types of flexo presses, fitted with LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology. The system is suitable for metering roll, chamber and bathed anilox inking systems.

The UV & LED Flexo AURA ranges have been developed to comply with the Swiss Ordinance and EuPIA guidelines for indirect food packaging.

The system lends itself to a wide range of indirect food contact applications where supported and unsupported stocks are used, such as SAL, IML, WARL, sachets, flexible packaging and carton sleeve packaging, offering complete heat stability.

The UV Flexo Luna range is a core ink system, being Benzophenone, ITX and BDK free it has been developed for use on inline UV flexo presses, giving optimum performance in all types of flexo printing units equipped with UV (MPM) drying.

As a core ink system, the Luna range complies to the EuPIA Exclusion Policy, but is not recommended for indirect food packaging without the presence of an absolute barrier, such as glass or metal. The Luna range follows Paragon Inks exacting standards of GMP processing and quality.

The range lends itself to a wide range of applications including self-adhesive labels, wet glue applications, sachets, IML, PVC shrink sleeving, carton and board applications, ticket and tags.

BENEFITS

- the possibility of printing various types of raw materials of various thicknesses (coated and uncoated self-adhesive papers, semi-gloss and thermal, non-adhesive papers, PE, PP, PVC,PET films, cardboard and others)
- ability to print on the reverse (also on glue) & printing of multi-sided labels
- paint curing speed (mainly UV and LED light curing inks) and thus printing speed
- the appropriate selection of materials for production and flexographic prepress allows to achieve a quality, which a dozen or so years ago was provided only by offset
- selection of optimal sizes of printing cylinders and the possibility of quick conversion of the flexographic machine allows to reduce production waste and thus reduce the final cost of the  product
- refinement and finishing of prints in the production line (hot and cold gilding, lamination, embossing, combining sieve / flexo / offset / digital techniques, raw material die-cutting and others)
